My boys are at the age where they want to help me cook, but their attention span is still a little short. They’re always asking to help me in the kitchen. It’s something I LOVED to do as a child, and I want them to have fun memories as well. They like to see quick, fast results and when their little bellies are yearning for a cookie, they want to see it fast. Most cake mix cookie recipes ask for oil, and this one asks for applesauce. I think they taste the same, and which would you rather give your kids?
That’s when I grab this recipe!
Cake Mix Cookies (a healthier version)
1 Cake Mix Box (approximately 15 oz.)
1 Cup Applesauce
Stir all ingredients together just enough that the clumps are gone, but don’t beat it like you’d make a cake. Bake on a greased cookie sheet at 375° F for 8-10 minutes.
I use a Pampered Chef cookie scoop to make them uniform in size so if I decide to make “Oreos” out of them, they are the same size.
